My Weekly Reflection.

Kia ora,

3 things I have learnt with Matua Travis this term, 1. Maori, I have learnt the Maori prefixes and suffixes of  Whaka and Kai we started with basic sentences like Whakapai taku ruma or Whakatika taku mahi like those kinds but you could change the words around with other Whaka and Kai words next term we are going to learn base words. 2. Pangarau, for this term in Pangarau we have been learning about shapes and some I have never heard of before like an equilateral triangle and a Quadrilateral I didnt even know that even existed, 3. last but not least Kaupapa Matua, we’ve been practising and teaching the teina rakau for E papa Waiari for next term we are doing a show thing, I think anyways we are doing really good but most the time there’s ONE Teina that’s off beat but it’s fine they are all getting better and are in time. This Thursday was way better than last Thursday. One I found difficult was definitely teaching the Teina, One I really enjoyed was Maori because the prefixes are really easy and so is the concept in general.

Weekly Relection

nOne thing I really enjoyed this week was probably doing pop art with Whaea`  Caramel. I have made an fortnite logo, then a fortnite person. Here’s the link if you wanna see them. They are quite goofy but Whea Caramel said they’re cool and creative. n

A challenge I faced this week was probably starting our new reading groups and cooperating with my new group about the patu because one has no ideas what we’re doing, another has many ideas but doesnt wanna show their handwriting and the last one actually helps but is a lil annoying.

Something I felt proud of this week is maybe answering a lot of questions in learning, more because the answers are easy and most of the people ain’t listening so I finally get to answer something I know about. Put when it’s a game everyone is answering.

Next week, I want to get better at basketball. I am doing some shooting at home too so I get the feeling that when I play basketball on Wednesdays I feel kinda confident but more nervous because I feel like imma be missing all my shots.

If I could change one thing about this week, it would be quitting choir because there’s one girl in there that is really annoying and heaps of people scream there lunges out and it’s still off tune.

camp reflection, challenges, successes.

On the 18th of February the year 7 and 8 attended the annual Spencer park. We walked 9km/9000m to Spencer park. It took 2 hours and a little bit to get there. There were running groups but however I chose to walk instead. I felt tired but happy and refreshed when I jumped in the puddles from the rain before we went. I feel like I was successful in cooking because I felt confident in doing it and I felt pretty good at it. I have experience in cooking too. I felt like I could have improved in adrenaline forest because i should’ve gone faster and should’ve gone on the Indian zip line or something because it was really high and looked scary.

My favourite part was probably the bouncy pillow and adrenaline because adrenaline had heaps of zip lines. Mostly because it was really active and enjoyable. We were also talking about the William Pike Challenge. I didn’t actually know what it was or what it meant but it sounds fun. We also played predator. It was really fun and it was even more fun when it got dark so technically we ran around trying to hide or run away. We also had six lives so when a teacher tagged us we had to give them a life.

I heard Mr Redmond laughing when he got some kids and a lot of people were screaming. Me and Moni were behind a few bushes crouching down watching a few teachers in front of us looking for people. It was really funny. After that we walked back to the campsite and had some of the shared kai and got ready for bed. In the morning we got up and had to take down the tent, have breakfast and make a sandwich for lunch. Then we did our activities, there was an adrenaline forest, a lagoon, beach explore and another one but I forgot the name. Anyways when we were done the activities we went back to the area where we played predator. Then we went to have more lunch then we went on a van back to school.  My most challenging activity was the walk because i don’t like walking. in the walk we went up hill, down hill, around hill, we walked to a park in north New Brighton then the next 2 hours we walked some more when we were walking we stopped every 1km. The R.I.S.E value i showed was success because we set the tent up  and when it rained it didn’t fall apart

And we had to have christmas earlier beacause mum and dad stayed in christchurch for a week after we went. And it’s almost my birthday soon!. how do you celebrate? here are my reflections for my second week of kura.

Rawhiti Athletics Day

Athletics

Events

Zones

Canterburies

Healthy

Friday

Energetic

Time consuming

Achieving goals

Fitness

On Friday 25th of October Rawhiti School had its annual Athletics day. On this day we did High jump, Long jump, Discuss, Shotput and more. It was really fun and entertaining. I liked High jump because I’m good at it. I even got to the top 5 but I didn’t make it to zones. I also came second in sprints then I came second to last in the next race. I think that day was really tiring and it was hot too so the heat didn’t help at all.

In my opinion I think the Rawhiti School annual Athletics day is really fun and it helps achieving goals and even with fitness. I thought it was really cool we all got to do the events,

In conclusion, I thought the Rawhiti annual athletics day was really fun and entertaining. I didn’t really like discuss its hard to hold it properly but

I can’t wait to do it next year.

Afed squad

This morning We used a new program called Afed Squad. We had to do the Te Reo Maori one so basically we had to do our Maori punctuation and learn more about Maori and actually listen to what Mana says. Mana is the person helping us learn and listen to him carefully so Mana is in the future and he is getting hunted down by the ‘wai’ corporation they see Maori culture and language as a threat and Mana goes back to time to teach everyone Moari so the corporation can get shut down. This was a fun activity for us to do and there were answers you had to do and you had to do 28 over and if we had 28 under we had to restart the whole thing before we get to go on the next one, personally i really liked this activity.

 6 Grand Rules For Talk

This week matua said he’s going to bring back points. We have to actually talk about our ideas and not be shy to give an opinion and Respectfully take part by giving ideas with reason and resources. And try not getting distracted and try sticking to the topic and asking questions to increase understanding. I think this is good for us and this is a good idea. This makes me think that I actually want to listen and ask questions, making sure everyone has a chance to take part of the topic. So I’m helping my group and I’m getting points. and also helping everyone in the group out we also get points for helping each other out.

Olympic Games

For the last few days we have been introduced to The Olympic games which are basically countries against countries in different sports. There are a lot of different sports and a lot of different people. And i learnt a bit about the New Zealand competitors for example Lisa carrington and Jo aleh. Lisa Carrington does sprinting, kayaking and canoeing and Jo aleh does sailing. Did you know the Olympics happen every four years. I also learnt about them like Lisa carrington is 35 and she has two older brothers and she’s from Tauranga. Now I’m more interested in the Olympics now that I know more about it

code in action- action stations

For the last three Friday’s we have been part of the ‘Code in Action’ group and have been learning to use Block coding.

I learnt how to make my own design in Minecraft Adventurer.  In the photo I am trying to destroy the blocks and if there is lava you have to place a block.

I learnt about the ‘If’ block.  If there is lava in front of you place a cobbelstone but if there is something else in front, like concrete it wont work.
